WE BELIEVE IN GIVING BACK...

Our business is dedicated to the belief that giving back to our community is critical. We believe that with a little help, all things are possible. As a result, we have created the Sweet Mission® Program, where a percentage of our profits are donated to an internal community fund that will be used to change lives. The overall purpose of the Sweet Mission® Community Fund is to deal with emergency needs that arise due to lack of financial resources. Our goal is to help develop and support new and existing programs with other groups and organizations that promote the sustainability and viability of all life with dignity and humanity.

Our program is headed by our CEO, Caterina Borg, and is overseen by an Advisory Council of community leaders who have distinguished themselves as experts in one or more of the focus areas of our mission.

The main focus of Sweet Mission® will be to:

  • Work with designated groups and non-profit organizations to alleviate the immediate needs of homeless individuals

  • Work with groups and non-profit organizations to provide immediate financial resources to individuals and families experiencing medical emergencies

  • Support groups and non profit organizations who offer/develop educational programs that provide marketable skills to the underprivileged members of our community, and

  • Work with groups and non profit organizations to promote the sustainability of all life, by providing funds to alleviate the suffering of animals in crisis. This may include, but is not limited to providing funds for conservation, veterinary care and animal rescue.

              OUR ADVISORY COUNCIL
Putting together an Advisory Council is a lengthy process. All of our members have been formally "invited" to paticipate, because they have been tapped as experts in one or more of the focus areas Sweet Mission® has embraced.

Our goal is to develop a database of members who will be able to assist us in achieving the goals we have established for each area. With the help of these community leaders, we have begun our efforts to identify local and national need.

Many of our Advisory Council members run international non profit organizations of their own, and they will be instrumental in helping us to develop and support our own
international program of giving in the future.

      HELPING OUR COMMUNITY ONE
             COOKIE AT A TIME...
ZacHelp Zac
Little Zac Johnson of Severna Park is awaiing a life-saving liver and small bowel transplant at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. To help raise funds, Mumsies participated in a Bake Sale for Zac on November 17, 2007 at the Severna Park Giant. We were so happy to hear from co-ordinator Debbie Gill that the one-day bake sale raised over $5,000!

At Mumsies® we start recruiting our volunteers early! Pictured here are some of our youngest employees who each year, give up one evening to help wrap Christmas presents for some needy families. This yearly event is part of our Sweet Mission®Outreach Program, which donates emergency food, supplies and personal hygiene kits to homeless shelters in the area. The children who participate have such a great time and learn first hand the importance of helping others.

Sweet Mission®volunteers help unload all of the items donated to the Shelters.

Each Holiday Season, the Sweet Mission™ Program helps support the  Annapolis Lighthouse Shelter and The Bea Gaddy Family Center.
Our efforts continue to focus on the significant issues of homelessness within the State of Maryland. We will continue to work with other organizations to help provide for the immediate needs of individuals and families in crisis within our communities.

The Center feeds 45,000 people each Thanksgiving, and Sweet Mission was glad to donate turkeys and other dried goods towards the celebration.

We also like to also plan to begin working with the Department of Aging to find how we can best support the elderly in our county. There are many elderly citizens within our community who have to decide daily whether they can afford to eat, or whether they can afford to buy their medication. Sweet Mission® will work with a representative from the Department of Aging to see how we can best serve their needs.

When I was 18 years old, I volunteered at St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home. At the time, the Home functioned as an orphanage for young children. I would go on Saturday's to play with the children, and saw first hand, the overwhelming number of children without a real place to call home. Today, their efforts have shifted to being more of a temporary housing facility for abused and neglected children up to the age of 12. We are in communication with representatives from St. Ann's to see how we can begin to help with their colossal overhead expenses in running their facility. Even if it is sharing the expenses of supporting one child, then that is how we will start our effort...one child at a time. (Read the letter we received from St. Ann's)
