Connie Denise BassConnie Denise Bass
Director, Bea Gaddy Family Center
Connie is the Director of the Bea Gaddy Family Centers, Inc., in Baltimore, MD. She has been the Director of the Center since 2002, but has been with the Center since its inception in 1981. Connie is very familiar with the plight of the poor living within Baltimore. She volunteered with Bea Gaddy, who was an activist, an ordained minister and a former councilwoman. The Center deals with people who have nowhere else to turn, and provides the basic necessities of food and clothing everyday. They serve the community by providing a hot meal every Saturday. The Center also helps to provide financial resources for rent and gas & electric, and also helps to find housing, counseling and educational programs for many others. This long term shelter is a place for people who want to rebuild their lives. It is run and maintained by its residents who rent four properties. Connie is one of many, helping to promote Bea’s legacy to serve the community by remaining sensitive to the plight of the poor, blind, sick and exploited. Her goal is to never lose the common touch, and remains connected to the community any way she can. She has one daughter Jawana, and two grandchildren named Bria and Ben. In addition to her volunteer work, Connie loves to go bowling whenever she can.
